چکیده Abstract The genus Periploca belongs to the family of Apocynaceae, which the most of this plants have been used as medicinal plants with a long history. Periploca aphylla is one of the valuable medicinal and nutritional tree species that is distributed in the southern and southeastern regions of the country. The use of native plant species in the forestry and urban green space program is very necessary due to their adaptation and low water requirements. Periploca aphyla, which not only has a very beautiful view, but is also fully compatible with the drought and water shortage conditions of the region. Activity of anti-inflammatory, anti-cancer, anti-bacterial, antimicrobial, antioxidant, insecticidal, laxative, anti-diarrheal properties and also sedative and relieves pain of this plant has been proven. In other hand, this useful and valuable plant is in danger of extinction ecologically due to improper harvesting, limited cultivation area and grazing of livestock. Triterpenoids such as allelic acid, mesylic acid, ursolic acid, acetic acid, bitulin and lopeol are the most important constituents of the active ingredient. Sterols, phenylpropanoids, flavonoids and quinones are also other constituents of the active ingredient. Therefore, the findings indicate that this medicinal plant has considerable potential for use in the food and pharmaceutical industries.
